I had practised yoga occasionally on and off for years, but it wasn’t until I hit a brick wall in my professional and personal life that I realised I needed to find deeper meaning in the world around me.

Unfit, inflexible, overweight and looking for a quick fix; with no job and a failed business I decided to distract myself through yoga and I committed to the practice.  I started showing up on the mat every day. Not to escape, but to reconnect with my body and my mind one breath at a time.

The stresses and strains slowly seeped out of my body onto the studio floor. Over the months that followed, yoga taught me that it wasn’t escape that was needed; it was the opposite. The challenge of yoga made me realise it is the ability to observe and accept what is in our path that matters. 

The more I moved, the more the noise settled. Yoga gave me structure, a way to observe and accept, and a moving meditation I could carry anyplace, anytime, anywhere.

I rediscovered my yoga practice in a new and exciting way that has helped me to navigate the chaos of the outside world. And that’s when the idea for Renew • Kinetic • Yoga was born. I wanted yoga props and tools that travel as well as we do—light, durable, ready in seconds.

Where we began

REKIYO was born from cramped hotel carpets, carry-on limits, and the realisation that the hardest part is starting. We set out to design packable tools and short, effective flows so practice could travel—calmly and quietly—with you.
